01 May 2009

A Badenoch and Strathspey community group, Caberfeidh Horizons, visited the Scottish Parliament yesterday.

The group of fourteen, led by Margaret McLaren, spent the day watching proceedings and listening to First Ministerís Questions before having lunch with Highlands and Islands regional Labour MSPs Peter Peacock, Rhoda Grant and David Stewart.

Mr Peacock said: "Caberfeidh Horizons does great work supporting adults with learning disabilities across the North and it is great to have them visit Holyrood.

"I know those involved had been looking forward to the trip and thoroughly enjoyed being shown around the building and watching First Ministerís Questions and returning with many photographs and a few souvenirs.

"Caberfeidh Horizons run the bookshop in Kingussie and not only provide great work experience opportunities for adults with learning disabilities there, but they also help many adults into full time work.

"They do a brilliant job and have been and continue to support and provide opportunities with the help of a dedicated group of volunteers.

"It was a delight to have them in Parliament as our guests."
