North MSP tables Parliamentary Questions on Livestock Improvement Scheme

Highlands and Islands Regional Labour MSP Peter Peacock has tabled two questions on the livestock improvement scheme for crofters.

Mr Peacock said, "I am well aware of the concern crofters have over the continuation of the scheme or any alterations to it.

"My parliamentary questions asked the new executive to confirm it is possible to operate a livestock improvement scheme that does not breach state aid rules and when it plans to announce a long-term commitment to a livestock improvement scheme for crofters."

Mr Peacock added, "Crofting is continuing to make a major contribution to life in the Highlands and Islands and should be supported by the Scottish Executive.

"I look forward to a supportive response from the Executive."
